Microsoft kicks off CES, watch the keynote live at 9:30 EST

Windows Media Center Today marks the kick off of this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, and what a better way to start it off than a live stream of Microsoft’s keynote event.  Topics include Windows 7, Office, Windows Mobile and others.  Hopefully some exciting news about Windows Media Center and the Zune Marketplace will be announced, but we’ll just have to wait and see.  For the full press release follow the read link below.

Cinemar says Happy New Year, makes WeatherLobby a free product

Cinemar LogoCinemar’s first press release of the year brings great news to all of its users.  WeatherLobby version 3.90 is now free to all new and existing users.  Those of you who have followed the product may have remembered that the recent changes to the Weather.com web services limited applications to only 5 days of forecast information.  To restore the previously available 10 days, as well as provide new hour by hour data and some other new features, Cinemar has switched to a new provider offering a more robust product.  For full details on the new product, click the link below.

Vantage introduces new Energy Management Solution at CEDIA

vantageGoing “Green” is all the new rage today, and why not, we could all spend a little less on our utility bills while at the same time try to save the planet.  Vantage Controls has unveiled its Energy Management Solution to give the end user a window into their energy usage.  The heart of the system is a touchscreen “Energy Dashboard” that shows real time usage, calculates energy cost, and shows you savings compared to a baseline value set by the installer.  The system also touts that it is the “first system that calculates, in real time, the exact dollar amount you are saving on energy”.  The system also helps the user develop energy strategies to continue to reduce their monthly consumption.  The system is also a finalist for CEDIA’s Best New Product Award.  No word on pricing, but sometimes you have to spend to save!
